Franklin Roosevelt was (nearly) wallon

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, one of the most famous president of the United States has a wallon origin. His second family name was in fact a spelling of de la Noye (ou de Lannoy) because of the walloon origin of his mother whose family came from the Netherlands in the 17 century as migrants. The name was changed for spelling reasons. In Leyden, it is still possible to see the name of his family on a pilgrim monument. The landing of his ancestor is also celebrated in Plymouth, Massachussetts.
