The Belgian-Korean Chef of the 2-star restaurant "L'air du temps" in Liernu (Province of Namur) has just been named the 2016 Chef of the Year by the Gault & Millau restaurant guide. The opportunity for us to pay tribute to this great Walloon Chef who, over the past few years, has lent his image to the promotion of Wallonia overseas.

Gault & Millau has revealed its list of prize winners for 2016.  The restaurant guide contains 1,100 addresses, including 126 new ones, and it is Sang Hoon Degeimbre who has received this immense reward. Also one of the Chefs of the new gastronomic trend in Wallonia, the famous Generation W, he is considered to be one of the best Chefs in Belgium at the moment thanks to his poetic and creative cuisine.

"There are Chefs who break down - sometimes open - doors and there are those who, once forced open, hold them open for others. Sang Hoon Degeimbre does both. Indeed, many see him as a genuine driving force. No doubt, that is also why, this year, he was named the leading Chef of Belgian gastronomy. Because, on the one hand, he embodies current trends and, on the other hand, he shares his, sometimes personal interpretations", explains Philippe Limbourg, Editor-in-Chief of Gault & Millau.

The selected Young Chefs of the Year are Maxime Colin from "La Villa Lorraine" for Brussels, Cédric Delsaut from "Bienvenue chez vous" (Namur) for Wallonia, and Marcelo Ballardin from the "Oak" restaurant (Ghent) for Flanders.

Also, San Hoon Degeimbre has just opened a restaurant in Brussels, SAN Bruxelles, where everything is served in bowls. A unique concept which is both convivial and universal.
