My name is Andy Deschacht and, with my wife Laura Garcia, we founded Garcia-Deschacht five years ago. We specialise in handcrafted fountain pens of the highest quality, using exclusive and rare materials. Each pen is unique and tailored to the customer's preferences, and we work closely with them to understand their wishes and intentions for the pen.
Before we begin the design process, we engage with the customer to fully understand their needs. What is the theme? What is the purpose of the pen? Is it a tribute or a keepsake?
One specific request challenged us to create a marble fountain pen. It took us over a hundred hours and many pieces of marble to fully understand the material and achieve a satisfactory result. We also work with gold, silver and precious stones. Although my passion for fountain pens has always been there, the idea of making them myself came much later. Initially, I concentrated on making wooden sculptures, some of which reached an impressive height of three metres.
The idea of creating luxury fountain pens came to me as a natural progression. It allows me to combine my artistic skills with my love of writing instruments. Each creation reflects my constant quest to explore different materials and push their limits.
The end result is always a high quality, handmade pen that exceeds expectations.
